- Studies in medicine in Munich; from 1922 to 1928 assistant at the Surgical University Hospital in Munich, from 1926 on in the department of radiology; moved to the University of Bonn in 1928 as head of the department of radiology; Professor in 1935; left the University in 1937 and founded his own institute of radiology; extraordinary professor in 1939; during WWII advisory radiologist of the Heeres-Sanitäts-Inspektion (Inspection of the army medical department); extraordinary chair of radiology in 1952; dean in 1956; chair in 1962.
